Sândalo (sandalwood tree) is an aromatic wood species of the Santalaceae family, coming from Southeast Asia.

In India, sandalwood is a sacred tree, and the government has declared it as national property to preserve it from vandalism which has been exposed to. Its cut is only permitted when it has more than 30 years, a time when it naturally begins to die. A log of sandalwood takes 25 years to acquire a thickness of 6 cm.
